What Easter Looks Like in A Hard Season

This Is What My Easter Looked Like This Year.....

Not perfect. Not peaceful. Just real life in the middle of it all.

Today is Easter.

And if I’m being honest… it didn’t look like what I thought it would.

No big moments. No perfectly planned day. No quiet reflection wrapped in peace and stillness.

Instead, it looked like this....

Smiling woman with child, eating brownies at desk

Deadlines to meet. Assignments due tonight. Working through exhaustion. Trying to hold everything together.

Trying to just… survive.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, eating cake at my desk.

And not a small piece either.

Because sometimes you don’t need a perfect moment…you just need something that gets you through.

This Easter didn’t come with rest. It came with pressure. With responsibility. With the weight of everything I’m carrying right now.

But maybe… that doesn’t mean it was any less meaningful.

Because Easter has never really been about perfect conditions.

It’s about resurrection.

And resurrection doesn’t happen in easy seasons. It happens in the hard ones. In the tired ones. In the ones where everything feels stretched thin and unfinished.

It happens in the middle of real life.

And if I look closely, there is still something being renewed in me.

Even here. Even now. Even in the middle of everything I have to get done tonight.

Maybe this season isn’t about having it all together.

Maybe it’s about continuing forward…even when you’re overwhelmed.

Even when you’re behind.

Even when your version of “celebrating” looks nothing like anyone else’s.

Because renewal doesn’t always look peaceful.

Sometimes it looks like showing up anyway.

Trying again.

Holding on.

Finishing what’s in front of you… even when you’re tired.

And trusting that God is still working in the middle of it.

So no, it wasn’t a traditional Easter.

But maybe… it was a real one.

Maybe this is what resurrection looks like too.

If your day didn’t look how you thought it would either…you’re not alone in that.

And it still counts.
