The Power of One

I've said this to myself before:
"I only need one company to notice me."
Somewhere along the way, I forgot it.
Then, during a conversation, my daughter reminded me.
The power of one.
It only takes one.
That simple reminder stayed with me long after our conversation ended. As I sat with it, I realized this truth reaches far beyond finding a job.
It only takes...
One smile.
One kind word.
One encouraging message.
One act of kindness.
One moment of forgiveness.
One acknowledgment.
One hug.
One handwritten letter.
One prayer.
One conversation.
One tear.
One person.
We often underestimate the impact of small things because they don't always create immediate change. We look for the big breakthrough, the big opportunity, the big answer.
But so much of life changes because of one small moment.
One teacher who believes in a child.
One stranger who opens a door.
One friend who checks in at just the right time.
One employer willing to take a chance.
One person who says, "I see you."
That single moment can become the beginning of something entirely different.
The same is true for us.
We may never know how far our own "one" reaches. A smile offered in passing, a text sent because someone crossed our mind, a prayer whispered for a friend, or a few words of encouragement could become the very thing someone needed to keep going.
That's the beautiful thing about ripples.
The person who drops the stone into the water rarely sees where every wave ends.
Maybe that's why we're simply called to be faithful with the one in front of us.
One act.
One moment.
One opportunity.
One person.
Today, I'm reminding myself again that I don't need everyone to notice.
I only need one.
Because sometimes, the power of one is all it takes to change the direction of a life.
